Background

Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE ( SHCH ), since opening in December 1996, has been a center

for the further education and clinical training of medical professionals, while delivering 24-hour

high-quality, free medical care for the poor and needy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The hospital is

staffed and managed by HOPE Worldwide, a United Nations recognized NGO, with approximately

eight expatriate staff and 372 Cambodian staff. The hospital averages 5,000-6,000 patient

consultations per month, and more than 50% of these patients come from the provinces. KHANA

supports HIV care in 1 Operational District (Kandal), 2 Health Centers, 13 Communes, 109 villages

in Phnom Penh.

Since 1997, SHCH, together with HOPE Worldwide Cambodia, a local NGO, have set up an

integrated support program for people living with HIV: medical care, home base care, testing and

counseling, support group and volunteer corps .

 

Vision

SHCH is driven by compassion, care and the desire to provide first-world medical treatment to the

poor in Cambodia. This kind of vision promotes optimism despite the challenges and obstacles.

 

Mission Statement

The mission of the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE is to provide a center for the further

education and clinical training of medical professional, while delivering 24 hours high quality, free

medical care of the poor and needy in Cambodia.

 

Human Resources

Four full-time staff members, one part-time nursing staff (from Health Center), one Part-time

accountant, five community volunteers (two from PLHIV and three from local authority) supported

by KHANA.
