Background

Coordination of Action Research on AIDS and Mobility (CARAM Cambodia) was established in

2000, and primarily works with Cambodian and Vietnamese migrant sex workers in Cambodia as

well as with Cambodian migrant workers who are preparing to migrate abroad. CARAM

Cambodia’s main work includes: safe repatriation and reintegration assistance for victims of

trafficking and labor exploitation; outreach education to both Cambodian and Vietnamese migrant

sex workers on reproductive health and human rights; pre-departure training to Cambodian migrant

workers; and advocacy. KHANA-supported integrated support and prevention covers 4 Operational

Districts (Tbong, Cheung, Lech and Kandal) in Phnom Penh.

 

Vision

CARAM Cambodia envisions that all people have the right to stay or move and live and work in

dignity with equal rights in society where their quality of life is ensured.

 

Mission Statement

The empowerment of migrants, their families and communities in the migration process for the

promotion and protection of human rights, including health, reproductive and sexual rights.

The production of knowledge using participatory action research on vulnerability, health status

and potential of migrant workers for planning and implementing appropriate and effective

regional interventions and advocacy work.

The mainstreaming of migration and HIV and AIDS from the migrant perspective as specific

areas of intervention in policy and program development.

Advocacy for improvement of quality of life of migrant workers including proper and equal

access to health care and services.

Promotion of gender equality and justice.
