Background

Aphivat Strey (AS) was founded in 1996 after the completion of an Oxfam project. It is a

non-government organization, not related to any political parties and implements its activities

neutrally. The Ministry of Interior of Cambodia provided formal recognition of the organization in

2004. Specific KHANA coverage includes integrated support and prevention in 2 Operational

Ditricts (Battambang and Sangkae), 3 Health Centres, 3 communes and 25 Villages.

Vision

People in society live with independence, dignity, and welfare, with particular support to women and

children to obtain technology, materials and emergency assistance. People have abilities and

capacities, means of production and are active in collaborating with local authorities to provide

sustainable development programs.

Mission Statement

Work with poor people to support services and training in order to develop human resources and

encourage them to establish associations at village level to ensure sustainable communities and to

organize independent natural resources conservation.
