Special Journalism Training Course
''Influence of TV & Radio Mediums in Response to HIV and AIDS”
Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA) would like to announce that in
cooperation with Club of Cambodian Journalists, we are conducting
a Special Journalism Training Course on ''Influence of TV
& Radio Mediums in Response to HIV and AIDS”
on 19 March 2008 at KHANA office. The participants are working journalists
from both private and state operating broadcasting mediums
After the one-day course, the participants are scheduled to visit
Battambang province on 20-21 March for a field trip. The trip aims
at providing the opportunity for the journalists to talk to some of
the more grassroots, local NGO’s working in the field of HIV
and AIDS. This will also provide the journalists with the opportunity
to cover news on the real lives of people living with HIV, as well
as orphans and vulnerable children.
The course objective is aiming at:
1) To raise awareness of HIV and AIDS among broadcasting journalists
2) To further develop the capacity of the journalists on the accurate
means to report HIV and AIDS
information
3) To encourage broadcasting media professionals to file stories on
HIV and AIDS regarding
the developmental impact.
Expected outcomes
By the end of the course it is expected that:
1. The broadcasting journalists will be aware of and will have gained
more of an understanding
about HIV and AIDS, and the situation in
Cambodia.
2. With their knowledge and understanding of HIV and AIDS, including
the field trip experience,
the participants will be more aware of
the powerful impact broadcasting mediums can be.
The journalists will
feel more capable as well as being more equipped with the appropriate
knowledge and skills to deliver accurate and sensitive reports on
HIV and AIDS.
